Our pantry is filled each day of the week with a bag of prescribed canned goods and other necessities. We have a storage cupboard which is replenished with generous community donations and purchased staples from our Outreach funds. Volunteers come each day to place a bag of items in the Pantry.
There is also a team of volunteers who get together monthly to prepare small baggies of items that would be a breakfast or a lunch for those who are without the means to provide for themselves. These items go in the pantry along with the staples that we provide.
Each day, the pantry is filled and emptied in a matter of hours. Our local community is helpful in providing a variety of items. It is, however, not a dependable source. We have guests who have come to rely on the food that we provide.
Below you will see a list of the items that we feel are necessary for our guests:
Peanut butter
Chunky soups
Pasta sauces and pasta
Tins of tuna, chicken, ham and sardines
Boxes of Instant oatmeal
Dried soups – Cup of Soup or boxes of soup mixes
Cans of beans – red kidney, white beans, lentils and chick peas.
We appreciate all donations and would invite you to place any excess donations in our Food Box inside the entry next to the Welcome Desk.
About the Little Free Pantry:
The Little Free Pantry was installed in the Fall of 2020. It continues to be a source of relief for many as food insecurity has increased and the cost of living has grown. Salaries or support payments have not matched the increase in the cost of food. Statistics shared by the Daily Bread Food Bank indicate that one in ten people in Ontario are accessing Food Banks for support. Working people in Ontario are among those accessing food assistance.
