Our Food Ministry cultivates a community through food-related initiatives. Our diverse programs aim to foster meaningful connections, provide education, and ensure access to nutritious meals for all through spirituality and a blessed community.
Food Ministry Community Garden
Opportunities to learn more about the process of growing food in the community.
Ten onsite raised garden plots rent for individuals, families, organizations
Onsite gardens for anyone in the community to garden and pick produce. Leftover produce is picked and put into the fresh mobile pantry.
Participants buy a raised bed and put it on their own front lawn to create community through gardening in their own neighborhood. Receive support and gardening tips from Grow Staff.
A meaningful employment program for youth and young adults to learn more about gardening through taking care of the Community gardens, hosting gardening workshops, as well as participating in other outreach programs at ESG, like food drives, stocking the Little Free Pantry and hosting potlucks for the community.

Fresh Mobile Pantry
Fresh produce is placed in this cooler in the summer and individually packaged warm meals are placed weekly in this pantry as it is also warmer.
Love a LIVE Dinner Church
A chance to break bread together while exploring where love is alive in our world through art. Guest Artists have included dancers, poets, painters, musicians, and more. Children and youth activities are offered in the space.
Flourish House
A young adult intentional community in a house owned by and next door to the church. The 3 Flourish House residents host other young adults from across Toronto for a weekly Wednesday community meal.
SECOND TUESDAY DROP-IN
A breakfast program for those facing food insecurity. Attendees are invited to take home fresh produce delivered from FoodShare Toronto.
Cooking for a Cause
A monthly batch cooking event for volunteers to make individually packaged meals. These meals are placed into the Mobile Pantry and set to “warming” for those in the community to enjoy.
Little Free Pantry
An outdoor cupboard, stocked daily with free pantry items for those who are food insecure.
Food Justice Cooking Events
These in-person cooking events invite participants to cook with others, eat together, and learn about food justice issues, such as food waste and loss, food insecurity in Toronto, and the intersections of food justice and racial justice.
Cultural Kitchen Parties
Taking its cue from Newfoundlanders’ famous kitchen parties (fun, casual, and personal), online attendees have the chance to learn about a certain culture by learning how to cook a dish and from the host’s first-hand perspective.
