sharing with people in need in our community

Each year on the second Sunday of Advent (December 4th this year) our church collects gifts for those in need. This year, we are focusing on local initiatives that help support our community. There are ways to give a physical item and ways to give money in support of our Advent Gift collection.

A Gift of Warm Clothing
Our Third Annual Warm Winter Coats and Winter Clothing drive has been combined with Advent Gifts this year. We will have brightly decorated boxes available in the Narthex for you to drop off your new or gently used winter coats and clothing donations. We are including children’s winter clothing in this years campaign as there is always a need for winter clothing for young people.  For more information on what items are most useful please see our list on our website which will be available next week.

A Financial Gift of Support
We would also like to appeal for financial donations (select ESG Outreach in the dropdown menu) for the ESG Outreach initiatives that support our local community. Funds that are donated will be divided between our We Care Project, The Little Free Pantry, The Good Food Box Program (gifted box) and Out of the Cold. Each of these ESG initiatives attempts to support the immediate needs of those who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.

Our coats and warm winter clothing donations will be distributed to our agencies who are in most need. The Roehampton Shelter has appealed to us for warm clothing. TUNM and The Red Door Shelter are also on our list to receive Warm winter clothing and financial donations from your generous offerings.

Last year we were able to deliver two carloads of Winter clothing. Your generosity also provided much needed financial relief for our chosen agencies. We see and hear every day that the needs of marginalized communities in Toronto grows weekly due to the current economic climate. Here at ESG we are in the fight to help alleviate some of the anxiety that is felt by our neighbouring communities. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration this Advent Season.
